It's RAG Quilt Time Again

Everyone loves rag quilts!  Right?

I try to give at least one quilt day for rag quilts.  They are quick to do and once they are done, they are done!  No additional quilting needed. And it is a great way to use up our flannel and batting remnants we collect during the year.

So...It is Rag Quilt Time Again at the February Quilts from the Bluffs Quilt Day on February 8.

I have updated the Rag Quilt pattern we used last year.  You can access the pattern HERE.

There is also instructions on how to make one block...with pictures...if you are unsure from the written instructions.  You can access the illustrated block instructions HERE

Winter is the perfect time to make a warm and cozy rag quilt.  Hope to see you at quilt day!

What Would We Do Without Friends?

We all want to have friends, right?  Hopefully, you all have them.  But more importantly, I hope you all ARE BEING friends.

I have had the unfortunate experience of losing my mother to an aggressive form of brain cancer this month.  This was an experience I would not wish on anyone.  However, it has given me an opportunity to really see how many friends I have that have stepped up in various ways to show their support.  This is so priceless!  The prayers, cards, notes, phone calls, coming to the funeral, flowers, memorial gifts and those who stepped in to carry on quilt day will not be forgotten.

My mom loved coming to our monthly quilt days when she could.
But this experience has also made me reflect on what kind of a friend I am.  By seeing your examples, I have a better picture of what I could be.  There is always a positive to any negative and what I am taking away from this is life can stink sometimes but friends will get you through. I will strive to open my eyes wider to see those around me better and reach out with a hand of friendship more.

This was taken about 6 weeks before Mom passed away.
It's the little things that make life bearable!
