Peggy, Kathe, Christy and I joined many others across the area to make and tag blankets for Project Linus. It was fun to see the children tying blankets and feeling so good about what they were doing. Many organizations came and picked up quilts from hospitals to the foster care system and many others. One gentleman that works with foster children came around personally to thank everyone for their time and told how the kids that are put into the foster care system receive a backpack of items, one being a blanket/quilt. The kids immediately take the blankets out and latch onto them.
KMTV channel 3 was there to report. If you saw the evening news on October 1, 2011, you may have caught Pegge sewing away for the camera!
Project Linus has two events each year where people meet to drop off blankets and make more. One is in February in coordination with the National Blanket Making Day that all chapters across the country participate in. The October event is a birthday celebration for the chapter.
